"I first became interested in textiles when I was a student in Paris.  I learnt to paint on silk
the old-fashioned way, by serving an apprenticeship in Arkady Kniazeff's studio ...
"

Sarah was brought up in the French Alps and educated in Switzerland and Paris.  While in Paris she trained with Arkady Kniazeff, a Russian who was one of the originators of the serti technique of painting on silk.

When she moved to London in the early 1970s Sarah initially made a name for herself as a specialist in hand-painted silk for fashion and interior design. She later expanded her studio to include painting on velvet and other fabrics. Over the years she supplied a number of shops and boutiques, as well as developing a large private clientèle in Europe, the Middle East and America.

Alongside her work in hand-painted textiles, Sarah has twenty years' experience in designing for printing.  Printing techniques have advanced hugely, and today Sarah gets enormous creative stimulation from working with innovative manufacturers. This side of the business is where she now focuses her energy.
