"T
here are ties and ties ... but nothing can beat the right weight of silk,
generous length, proper interlining, and one that knots as it should ...
"

Here are some examples of recent projects.  They'll give you an idea of what's possible.

J&B Whisky

J&B Whisky's 'Care for the Rare' programme involves sponsorship of endangered animal species from around the world.  The beautiful velvet devoré scarf was Sarah's interpretation of the animals adopted by Care for the Rare.

As well as the scarf, J&B asked Sarah to design two printed silk Care for the Rare ties. The other ties in the picture are the Jay and Bee series, also in printed silk - a nice visual pun on the company name!

Johnnie Walker

Johnnie Walker asked Sarah to design a series of printed silk ties in three colours ways on the Keep Walking theme.  Johnnie Walker has changed direction in recent years - he used to be walking right to left, now he's heading left to right!

Scotch Heritage

Scotch Heritage commissioned this luxurious red and black velvet stole with hand-knotted silk fringe as a gift for guests at the Keepers of the Quaich's annual dinner at Blair Castle.

National Galleries of Scotland

Raeburn's portrait of the Revd Robert Walker, 'The Skating Minister', is one of the most widely-known and well-loved images from the National Galleries of Scotland's collections.

The Galleries initially commissioned Sarah to design a velvet devoré scarf and a printed silk tie around the image.

These proved so popular in the National Galleries of Scotland's shops that they commissioned a second series of silk ties, this time woven, in three colours - blue, gold and red.

The Macallan

The Macallan's packaging features a watercolour of their Speyside headquarters, the 17th century Easter Elchies House.

They asked Sarah to design a tie that featured the house, as well as elements of the whisky-distilling process - ears of barley, the distinctively shaped copper stills, and the oak sherry casks in which the whisky matures.

Sarah chose the unique typefaces from the Macallan's packaging as the theme for this luxurious heavyweight crêpe-de-chine scarf with hand-rolled edge.  The ties and scarf are both available through the company website.
